Jesus M. Benitez
Jesus “Chuy” Benitez is the current President of the Society of Mexican American Engineers and Scientist's. In 2003 at the MAES International Symposium and Career Fair in Phoenix, Arizona, Chuy became a Medalla De Oro recepient. This is the highest honor that the society gives to it's members.
Two years ago, as vice-president he established a MAES Montwood High School Science Club. He also helped in establishing a high school chapter at Cathedral High School. His efforts have allowed the Montwood chapter to place twice in the New Mexico Robo Rave robotic competition. The science club has placed 2nd and 3rd.
Jesus has a BS in Electrical Engineering. He’s worked at White Sands Missile Range since his graduation from the University of Texas El Paso in 1979. He is a technical team leader. He works with the National Range, Data Collection Division, Systems Engineering Branch. He possesses expertise in the fields of Radar, GPS, and Telemetry Data processing systems. He loves to work with state of the art technology, and is involved in developing Real Time Data Processing Systems. During his 25 years at WSMR, he has received numerous awards, such as Engineer of the Year award and a group award for Team of the Year. Jesus is married to Luisa and has two children, Leticia and Jesus Jr. He is an accomplished guitar player and loves to play golf.
