Thank You Letters
Dear MAES: Many people say that education is the key to one's future, and I agree. Society has made it more and more difficult for those without a college degree to maintain a successful career. This is one of the many reasons I am going to attend the University of Texas at El Paso, for I know that the best way for one to move up in life is by receiving a college education. I am quite aware of the importance of my high school education, for it has been the key to my future. However, I am also aware that over the next several years, I will be investing precious time into a successful career. Though the previous years of my education were not paid for out of my own pocket, my future education will be. However, I am extremely lucky to have been recognized by such a magnificent society, the Society of Mexican American Engineers and Scientists of El Paso. Caring people like you have made it possible for hard working students to continue their education and come closer to reaching their goals. I am truly thankful for your gracious reward, and I hope to hear of many other students who will be recognized for their achievements as well.
Sincerely, Erica Reyes August 8, 2000
Dear MAES: It is my privilege and pleasure, on behalf of the University of Texas at El Paso, to thank you for your recent gifts totaling $10,000.00. Pursuant to your stated wish, these funds will provide grants-in-aid to cover the academic expenses of 10 students for the 1999-2000 academic year. One of the chief glories of mankind is the will to learn, and also, never to be satisfied with how much you know. These talented UTEP students are an apt example, and through these gifts you have indeed made an investment in the future. I thank you, again, for your generosity, and please know that we are proud to count you as a member of the UTEP family of friends.
Sincerely, Frank Fletcher, Ed. D., CFRE Chief Development Officer

Dear MAES Members: Shortly prior to my graduation from Jefferson High School this past May, I received a $,1000 scholarship from your organization. I would like to thank everyone who made this award possible. These funds greatly assisted me during my Fall Semester at the University of Texas at El Paso. I found my first few months of college life quite pleasant. I learned so much, especially in my biology class! Your scholarship eliminated the financial stress I might otherwise have faced. Indeed, there exist college expenses I had not even anticipated. For example, some of my purchases included a ZIP disk, overhead transparencies for a project in which I participated, and instructional videos to supplement my math course. I was able to afford such items thanks to you. Therefore, with this holiday greeting, I express my appreciation and gratitude!
Sincerely, Crystal E. De La Rosa December 1999
